STFS Recruitment

Why should you consider coming to the South Thames Foundation School?

We are a very large Foundation School with over 800 2 year programmes, including 52 academic programmes based at our teaching hospitals at Brighton, St George’s, Guy's and St Thomas's and King's College and Royal Surrey County Hospital.

Our training is based in 18 trusts over 25 sites in South London and in Kent, Surrey and Sussex; from Frimley in the west, to East Kent in the east and Brighton on the south coast.

Our 2 year programmes have been fully revised for 2018 entry. Following the national Broadening the Foundation Programme initiative all now contain a 4 month community placement, and 45% one in psychiatry. There is a wide range, from those with one year in a teaching hospital and one in a district general hospital to others providing more geographical continuity.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Allocation to both F1 and F2 programmes is provisional until the specific information is confirmed to you by the trust, as it may be necessary for programmes to be amended after the allocation process. If this is the case applicants will be notified as soon as possible.
  • Foundation doctors can generally only complete one community placement during their 2 year foundation training. This is to allow for all foundation doctors to have at least 4 months experience in a community setting from 2018 entry. Some programmes include both general practice and hospital psychiatry.

Overall we feel that our training provides a real breadth of experience and we hope that you will explore more by looking at our website and at our prospectus.
